Officially opened in 2017, the Oshawa Basketball Association (OBA) is one of Ontario’s only Black female–founded and led basketball organizations. Under the leadership of Nashema Smith, OBA has become a powerhouse in youth development and competitive excellence.

The Oshawa Basketball Association (OBA) is a youth‑focused basketball organization dedicated to providing accessible, high‑quality athletic programming for children and teens across Durham Region. Established by community leader Nashema Smith-Green, OBA was created to address the need for inclusive, structured, and empowering sports opportunities — particularly for girls and underrepresented youth.

SUMMER CAMP
The Oshawa Basketball Association Summer Camp is where young athletes grow — on the court, in confidence, and in character. Beginning July 6, 2026, OBA is offering weekly summer sessions with both half‑day and full‑day options, giving families the flexibility they need.
Designed for ages 6–16, our camp supports every level of player, from beginners learning the fundamentals to advanced athletes preparing for competitive play. Each day includes structured skill development, team play, leadership building, and fun competitions — all led by experienced, positive, and highly trained coaches.
